SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Rams once again used one big inning to hand St. Edward's baseball an 8-3 loss Saturday afternoon to close the series.
ASU scored on in the first but SEU's
KYLER KERLIN answered with an RBI single, scoring
BLAKE HOLUB to even the count.
The Rams then scored five in the third to take a commanding 6-1 lead. Kerlin pulled the Hilltoppers within three with a two-RBI single to center, but that is as close as they would get as ASU added a two-run shot in the seventh to hand St. Edward's the loss.
Kerlin led at the plate, going 2-3 with 3 RBI while Holub was 2-4.
WESLEY GAFFORD suffered the loss on the mound, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 11 hits and one walk.
St. Edward's drops to 7-15 on the year and 7-14 in Lone Star Conference play after the loss. They return home to host Houston-Victoria for a non-conference game on Tuesday starting at 2:30 pm.
