ODESSA, Texas -
JAKE HAHN highlighted an impressive offensive showing for the St. Edward's baseball team. Hahn was 4-5 wth two doubles and two RBIs as the Hilltoppers blasted 16 hits in a 19-5 win over UT Permian Basin.
After a slow start that saw the Falcons leading 2-0 after two innings, St. Edward's took the lead after a three run third inning. UTPB quickly responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to regain the lead.
The lead change was brief, however, as SEU got back to work at the plate in the fourth. The Hilltoppers took advantage of shaky pitching to score seven runs and lead 10-4.
Three quiet innings for both teams gave way to a raucous ninth inning for St. Edward's as they exploded for nine runs in the frame to make the win a reality.
WESLEY GAFFORD earned the win on the mound, allowing four runs on eight hits with one walk and four strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Hahn's impressive outing was nearly matched by
KYLER KERLIN who went 3-4 with four RBIs and and three runs scored.
CHASE COS,
MATTHEW GILES and
DAVIS DREWEK also posted multi-hit outings on the day.
The Hilltoppers improve to 15-20 on the year and close LSC regular season play with a 14-18 record. They will await official confirmation for the bracket to be released from the Lone Star Conference to find out who they will play in the upcoming LSC Championship which begins on May 13.
