LAWTON, Oklahoma - St. Edward's baseball takes game one against Cameron behind two six-run innings late in the game to win 15-7.
Chase Cos got things started in the first inning with an RBI double to give the Hilltoppers the early lead. But after four innings played, the Aggies had the slim 2-1 advantage over the Hilltoppers.
A single and a wild pitch in the top of the fifth gave the Hilltoppers back the lead, and they never looked back. After two scoreless innings, SEU bats woke up in the top of the eighth as they put up six insurance runs to go ahead 9-2.
Jake Hahn got the rally started with his second RBI single of the game, a walk and an error allowed the Hilltoppers to tack on the other three runs. The Hilltoppers weren't done as they added six more runs in the ninth to shut the door on the Aggies.
Morgan Allen got things started with an RBI single into center field, a HBP, and a two-run double by Cullen Ainsworth kept the Hilltopper rally going. An RBI triple by Davis Drewek capped off SEU's inning, putting them ahead 15-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth.
Wesley Gafford pitched six strong innings allowing just two runs on seven hits in his first victory of the season.
SEU is back in action tomorrow for a double-header against Cameron. First pitch is set for 1 pm for game one and 4 pm for game two.
