LAWTON, Oklahoma - On Saturday, the St. Edward's baseball team split their two games against Cameron, losing 9-1 in game one and winning 10-3 in game two.
Game One: CU 9, SEU 1
Game one in Saturday's doubleheader was all about the Aggie's offense. They were able to total 12 hits and drive home nine runs in the seven-inning game. By the end of the third inning, Cameron held a commanding 4-0 lead thanks to a single, an error, and a bases-loaded walk.
The Hilltoppers scored their lone run of the afternoon in the fifth inning to bring the score to 4-1 after a Jake Hahn RBI single to left field. But in the home half of the fifth, the Aggies were able to add five insurance runs to push their lead to 9-1.
Jack Granack would take the loss as the Hilltoppers struggled from the plate, accounting for only three hits in the loss.
Game Two: SEU 10, CU 3
In game two, the Hilltoppers struck early and took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with a Davis Drewek RBI single. In the third, Jake Hahn drove in a run on a single to left field then Cullen Ainsworth and Josh Graham picked up RBI's, giving SEU an early 4-0 lead.
In the home half of the third and fourth, the Aggies cut the lead in half thanks to an RBI single and an RBI double, bringing the score to 4-2. After a scoreless fifth, Cullen Ainsworth picked up his second RBI of the day on a sac fly to extend the Hilltoppers lead to 5-2.
In the seventh inning, SEU added five runs to put the game out of reach. An RBI single by Kyler Kerlin got things started, and a walk, fielder's choice, and an error gave the Hilltoppers a 10-2 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh.
Luke Short picked up his second win of the year in the 10-3 rout, giving up just two runs and striking out nine batters through six innings.
SEU is back in action Sunday to finish off their series against Cameron. First pitch is set for 1 pm.
