AUSTIN, Texas - The St. Edward's baseball team avoided a sweep as they defeated St. Mary's 14-9 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

The Rattlers got on the board in a hurry using a leadoff single and a two-run homer to take a 2-0 lead in the first. In the bottom of the inning, Stacey Bailey drove in SEU's first run on a single up the middle, and Chase Cos drove in the second run on an RBI double down the right-field line.

After a scoreless second, the Rattlers brought in three runs on a three-run homer taking a 5-2 lead. Another home run for the Rattlers in the fourth extended their lead to 6-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Hilltoppers drove in five runs to take their first lead of the game. Stacey Bailey parked a three-run homer well over the left-field wall to bring the score 6-5. Later in the inning, Josh Graham slapped a single up the middle bringing home two runs and giving the Hilltoppers a 7-6 lead.

In the top of the sixth, a balk allowed the Rattlers to tie the game at 7-7. An RBI single and a sacrifice fly in the seventh allowed the Rattlers to regain their lead, going up 9-7.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Hilltoppers opened the floodgates and scored seven runs to put the game out of reach. Cullen Ainsworth scored the first run of the inning on a wild pitch. Jake Hahn would then hit an RBI double down the left-field line to tie the game at 9-9. Kyler Kerlin would then single up the middle allowing Hahn to score.
