LUBBOCK, Texas - The St. Edward's baseball team defeated #21 Lubbock Christian in the series finale 5-1 to split the series.

After two scoreless innings, the Hilltoppers got on the board in the top of the third. JAKE HAHN drove home a run on a groundout to give the Hilltoppers a 1-0 lead. 

After two more scoreless innings, the Chaps tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single.

After a scoreless seventh, the Hilltoppers put up four runs to separate themselves from the Chaps. An RBI single by Davis Drewek allowed the Hilltoppers to retake the lead. Cullen Ainsworth drove home a run on a fielder's choice to extend the lead to 3-1. Hunter Conner delivered a double down the right-field line with the bases loaded to give the Hilltoppers a 5-1 lead. 

Jack Granack pitched a gem giving up just one run on six hits through seven innings of work in the win. In the bottom of the ninth, Jayson Flores got the final two outs to shut the door on the Chaps, picking up his sixth save of the season. 

The win gives the Hilltoppers a conference record of 20-12, placing them in fourth place, right behind the Chaps in the standings. 

This coming weekend, SEU returns home to host Angelo State for a four-game series. First pitch for game one is set for Friday at 1 pm.
