LAREDO, Texas - The St. Edward's baseball team dropped games two and three of their series against Texas A&M International. Both games ended on walk-off home runs, 6-5 and 5-4.
Game One: TAMIU 6, SEU 5
Morgan Allen started the game with a leadoff home run to give the Hilltoppers an early 1-0 lead.
After a scoreless second, the Dustdevils tied the game with an RBI single. The Hilltoppers answered back in the next inning with back-to-back home runs by Stacey Bailey and Davis Drewek, bringing the score to 3-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Dustdevils hit a solo home run of their own to pull within one.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Dustdevils took their first lead of the game on a bases-clearing double to bring the score to 5-3.
The Hilltoppers tied the game on a two-run double by Cullen Ainsworth in the sixth.
With the game tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh, the Dustdevils hit a walk-off home run to complete the comeback.
Luke Short pitched 4 ? innings giving up five runs on four hits while striking out six batters. JAYSON FLORES pitched 1 ? inning giving up one run on two hits in the loss.
Game Two: TAMIU 5, SEU 4
Just like in game one, Morgan Allen got the scoring started with a leadoff home run in the top of the first. Cullen Ainsworth drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 2-0. In the bottom of the first, the Dustdevils got on the board with a solo home run to bring the score to 2-1.
After a scoreless second, Stacey Bailey drove in a run on an RBI double to left field. Bailey would later score on a wild pitch to put the Hilltoppers up 4-1.
After two scoreless innings, the Dustdevils scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull within one. A solo home run and an RBI groundout brought the score to 4-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, with two outs, the Dustdevils hit their second walk-off home run of the day to win 5-4.
Eric Worden pitched 6 ? innings allowing five runs on six hits while striking out nine batters in the loss.
The Hilltoppers are back in action tomorrow as they look to take the last game of the series against the Dustdevils. First pitch is set for 1 pm.
