LUBBOCK, Texas - The St. Edward's baseball team defeated #3 seed Lubbock Christian 20-17 to advance to next weekend's LSC Championship Finals. 

The Hilltoppers came out of the gates strong, scoring nine runs in the top of the first. Three RBI doubles, an RBI single, a sacrifice bunt, a wild pitch, and two errors gave the Hilltoppers an early 9-0 advantage. 

The Chaps wouldn't go down quietly as they scored ten runs in the first two innings to take a 10-9 lead entering the third.

In the top of the third, a solo homer by Turner Olson tied the game at 10-10.

Kyler Kerlin gave the Hilltoppers an 11-10 lead on an RBI double to center field in the fourth. Later in the inning, a two-run homer by the Chaps gave them the lead 12-11.

In the fifth, Stacey Bailey smacked a two-run double to center field to retake the lead and bring the score to 13-12. 

In the sixth, the Chaps regained the lead on two RBI singles that brought the score to 14-13. 

The Hilltoppers scored seven runs in the final three innings to pull away from the Chaps. 

Turner Olson, Stacey Bailey, and Eric Worden finished with multiple RBIs and hits in the win. Seven Hilltoppers finished the game with multiple hits.

Austin Essex picked up the win, pitching two innings and giving up three runs on five hits. Jayson Flores recorded the final six outs to be awarded the save.

The Hilltoppers are back in action Thursday, where they will face #2 seed West Texas A&M.
