St. Edward's Athletics announced SEU Cheer team captain and STUNT senior
JAHENNESSY PARRA as the school's first three-time Stacey Copeland Community Service Award winner during Tuesday night's awards ceremony and end-of-year banquet, the Goatspy Awards.
The Stacey Copeland Community Service Award is named after women's soccer alum Stacey Copeland, who took St. Edward's mission statement to new heights through her community service. Copeland's leadership inspired everyone to "step up our game," as she led by example in organizing opportunities to engage in community service projects that make a difference.
This award was created in her honor to focus on the mission of the Brothers of Holy Cross, which is to educate the heart and mind while promoting themes of service and social justice.
Coaches nominated candidates, and a committee of administrators, sports information staff, and coaches voted on the winner.
Parra has logged over 3,500 hours of community service in her four years at St. Edward's. Locally, she's volunteered at food banks and churches, organizing food and clothing drives. At home, she volunteers
at Sunny Farm, an organization that utilizes therapeutic horsemanship to work with individuals who have physical, emotional, social, and cognitive impairments. Her impact also extends beyond Texas through Campus Ministry's Service Break Experiences.
