DALLAS – St. Edward's cheerleading team participated in the National Cheerleaders Association College Cheer Camp at Southern Methodist University over the weekend, earning multiple accolades, including a Bronze Paid Bid to the NCA Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida, in April 2026.
The cheerleading team also announced
ELLA GUMNEY,
ELENA DAVIS,
EMMA GUERRERO, and
ELENA LA ROSA as its team captains for the 2025-26 season.
"This is the first NCA camp experience for this group, and the team showed up and showed out," St. Edward's head cheerleading coach Sean Garland exclaims. "Fifteen of our 27 athletes are new to the team, and they worked together like they'd known each other for years. The final day of hitting perfect performances came from them being amazing athletes and amazing young people. I couldn't be more proud."
St. Edward's cheerleading competed in the small coed division against other NCAA Division II programs of a similar makeup, including multiple Lone Star Conference schools. The Hilltoppers performed a gameday cheer routine and spirit rally to music, receiving a 9.8 out of a possible 10 points for their gameday routine.
The Hilltoppers placed second in their division's Spirit Rally to music and received blue superior ribbons for all three evaluations they performed, and were awarded a spirit stick for one of the most exciting and energetic programs in attendance.
