AUSTIN, Texas — The National Association of Basketball Coaches released its latest NCAA Division II national rankings, and St. Edward's men's basketball remains in the poll at No. 25 after splitting its homestand last week.
The brutal Lone Star Contest continues to be a battle of attrition, with four of the five nationally-ranked Lone Star Conference teams from a week ago suffering a loss against other LSC opponents. Only Eastern New Mexico went unscathed, sweeping Midwestern State and No. 5 Lubbock Christian, dropping the Chaps to No. 11 and vaulting the Greyhounds from No. 24 to No. 19.
No. 16 West Texas A&M and No. 25 Dallas Baptist both dropped out of the Top 25. The Buffalos were swept by Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State, while the previously No. 25-ranked Patriots split its St. Mary's and St. Edward's road trip, falling to St. Mary's.
St. Edward's (16-4, 5-4) currently stands sixth in the conference standings after consecutive weeks of nationally-ranked opponents. The Hilltoppers travel to Oklahoma this week to face Cameron (6-11, 3-6) and Oklahoma Christian (9-7, 4-6).
