TOPEKA, Kan. — St. Edward's men's indoor track & field continued its early-season build at the Washburn Open, competing Jan. 30–31 at the Sneed Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kansas.

The Hilltoppers opened competition in the sprints, led by ANDRE MOORE in the 60 meters. Moore clocked a 7.17 in the preliminary round, gaining valuable early-season reps against one of the meet's deepest sprint fields.

TYRIQ WILSON followed with a strong effort in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 23.07, while Andre Arroyo represented St. Edward's in the 400 meters with a time of 50.01 in his collegiate debut, continuing the Hilltoppers' work in the one-lap race as the indoor season progresses.

Distance events highlighted a busy weekend for the Hilltoppers, with four runners competing in the 3000 meters for the first time. BEN BAYLY led the group with a top-25 finish, placing 24th at 8:39.80, followed by ARLO GONZALES (8:48.64), Javi Ramirez (8:59.67), and MELECIO ORTIZ (9:11.80), as the group gained valuable race experience in a large, competitive field.

St. Edward's distance group also teamed up in the distance medley relay, where Gonzales, Vela, Anastasiou, and Bayly combined for a time of 10:31.16 to place 16th, emphasizing depth and race execution across multiple legs.

In the field events, KAYLON KING competed in the men's triple jump, recording a program-best mark of 12.70 meters as the Hilltoppers continued to build consistency in the horizontal jumps.

The Washburn Open provided an important developmental opportunity for St. Edward's, offering competitive repetitions across sprint, distance, relay, and field events as the Hilltoppers continue to prepare for the end-of-February Indoor Lone Star Conference Championships.
