AUSTIN, Texas — St. Edward's track and field welcomes Sir Jonathan Sims as its new assistant coach specializing in jumps, rounding out the staff alongside fellow newcomer Owen Sutherland under second-year head coach Chase Rathke.

Sims joins the Hilltoppers following a decorated collegiate career that began at the University of Arizona and concluded at Tarleton State in spring 2026. He graduated from Tarleton State with a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology.

During the 2025 season, Sims won Western Athletic Conference championships in the outdoor triple jump and indoor long jump while finishing runner-up in the outdoor long jump and indoor triple jump. He also earned All-America honorable mention recognition.

Sims holds Tarleton State's outdoor long jump record at 7.93 meters and ranks second in program history in the indoor long jump at 7.78 meters and indoor triple jump at 15.81 meters.

In his final collegiate season, Sims helped Tarleton State capture its first WAC men's outdoor track and field team championship. He won the triple jump, finished second in the long jump and was named the meet's Most Outstanding Performer.

Before transferring to Tarleton State, Sims competed at Arizona, where he won a Pac-12 triple jump championship and placed fourth nationally.

Sims joins a St. Edward's program coming off a season in which the Hilltoppers established multiple school records and continued building momentum under Rathke's leadership.
