AUSTIN, Texas — The American Baseball Coaches Association released its first in-season national coaches poll, ranking St. Edward's baseball No. 30 in NCAA Division II.
The Hilltoppers enter the week at 6-3 overall, having won two of their first three series of the season. St. Edward's opened Lone Star Conference play by sweeping Eastern New Mexico before facing Cameron on the road.
Through nine games, the Hilltoppers rank among the Lone Star Conference leaders in multiple offensive categories. St. Edward's is second in walks (67), third in doubles (20) and home runs (13), fifth in scoring at 9.4 runs per game, and owns a .500 team slugging percentage.
Senior first baseman CONNOR COX has been one of the conference's most productive hitters, leading the LSC in batting average (.500) and hits per game (2.13), while ranking second in slugging percentage (.853). Cox and BOSTON LEE have also provided power in the middle of the lineup, ranking second and third in the conference with four and three home runs, respectively.
St. Edward's returns to the Hilltop this weekend to host UT Permian Basin in a four-game series at Lucian-Hamilton Field, beginning Friday at 1:00 p.m.
