Biography

Junior (2014): Started 47 games and played in 53 games for the Hilltoppers…recorded 32 hits with a .276 batting average…scored 14 times and also registered 15 RBI…finished second on the team with five home runs…tied for team lead with 19 walks…earned a .976 fielding percentage with only six errors on the year.
 
Sophomore 2013 (Blinn College): Saw action in 47 games for the Buccaneers in her second season…totaled 91 at bats for a batting average of .275…tallied 25 hits and scored 20 runs…blasted four homeruns and brought in 23 runs…25 of the games played were as a pitcher and she made 18 starts on the mound…recorded an 11-7 record…pitched 109 innings and struck out 64 batters…recorded a 3.40 ERA...helped her team advance to the Region XIV tournament semifinals where they fell short of a fifth consecutive trip to the NJCAA National Championships.
 
Freshman 2012 (Blinn College): Saw action in 35 games as a pitcher in her first season at Blinn…pitched 40.2 innings and gave up 31 hits…struck out 31 batters and had an ERA of 2.065…won six games…had 64 at bats and recorded 14 hits…scored seven runs and drove in 10 RBI…tallied a batting average of .219…helped her team win the conference championship and the Region XIV championship…finished fifth at the NJCAA National Tournament.
 
Prep: Played four yeas of softball and three years of basketball and volleyball at Giddings High School…in 2008 she was named an honorable mention all-district pitcher…named to all-district second-team as a pitcher in 2009…helped her basketball make the state semi-finals during the 2009-10 season…earned all-district first-team honors as pitcher in 2010…won most valuable pitcher in 2011…led her softball team to the playoffs in all fours years of participating…named to the academic all-district squad all four years.
 
Personal: Caitlin “Caitie” Mae Carney was born on June 15, 1993…daughter of Robert and Cathy Carney of Giddings, Texas…has two siblings: Josh (28) and Lee (27)…plans to study kinesiology at St. Edward’s with career hopes of teaching others the same love she has for softball…her hobbies include coaching and giving softball lessons, helping with 4-H project and spending time with her family and friends…her biggest athletic thrill was going to the NJCAA National Tournament in St. George, Utah.
