Junior (2011-12): Started in 14 games while seeing action in 25 during her third year on the Hilltop…contributed 14.9 minutes per contest…averaged 5.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game…shot 59 percent from floor which led her team for the third-straight year…scored 20 points and snagged nine rebounds against Panhandle State (01/19/12)…during that game she went 8-for-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.
 
Sophomore (2010-11): Played in all 28 games while starting 22 for the Hilltoppers…averaged 15.8 minutes per game...scored 5.8 points and hauled in 3.1 rebounds per game…once again led her team with a 51 percent field goal percentage…scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds against UT-Permian Basin (01/29/11).
 
Freshman (2009-10): As a freshman, she started seven games while playing in all 29 during the season…averaged 17.3 minutes of playing time…averaged 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game…was the most efficient player shooting a team best 53 percent from the field…scored 14 points and four rebounds against TAMU-Kingsville (12/31/09) in 19 minutes of action…also tallied 16 points and seven rebounds against Our Lady of the Lake (12/4/09).
 
Prep: Attended Melissa High School and participated on the basketball team for four years…earned a spot on the all-district team…also lettered in volleyball where she was the district’s most valuable player her junior and senior seasons…also qualified for state in track and field.
 
Personal: Monica Leigh James was born on May 6, 1991…daughter of George and Nancy James of Melissa, Texas…has one sibling: Grant (20)…currently studying business administration and getting a concentration in global studies…enjoys traveling and hanging out with friends.
