St. Edward's University Athletics

Freshman 2013-14 (McMurry): Played her first season of college basketball at McMurry…saw action in 23 games and averaged three points per game…scored 10 points against Midwestern State…scored nine points against Our Lady of the Lake and eight points against NCAA Division II opponents Oklahoma Christian and TAMU-International.
 
Prep: Attended Lubbock Cooper High School and lettered on the women’s basketball team…named to the Texas all-State team in her junior and senior season…also named offensive player of the year in her junior and senior seasons…in her final season at Lubbock Cooper, she was name to the TABC All-Region team and TGCA All-Star Team…led her team to a TAPPS State appearance, finishing as the runner-up in her second season.

Personal: Katy Layne Boren was born on April 27, 1994…daughter of Gary and Lisa Boren of Lubbock, Texas…has three siblings: Krista (36), Kari (32), and Chris (18)…plans to study medical science at St. Edward’s with hopes of becoming a physician’s assistant…enjoys going to church, listening to music, traveling, and hanging out with friends…her biggest athletic thrill is making it to the state tournament in her junior season.
