Box Score GOODWELL, Okla. - Adam Shank finished of a brilliant weekend with five RBI to lead St. Edward's to a 20-4 victory over Panhandle State Saturday afternoon at Aggie Field.
St. Edward's (11-7, 9-3 HC) scored early and often against Panhandle State. The Hilltoppers put five runs on the board in the first inning. Shank (Junior, Sugar Land, Texas) picked up an RBI with a single and both Taylor Johnson (Sophomore, Dripping Springs, Texas) and Eric Morgan (Senior, Salt Lake City, Utah) each had two RBI in the inning.
The Hilltoppers stayed in the zone at the plate, pushing across six runs in the second inning. The big blows for the inning were a three-run homer by Shank and a two-run blast by Will McCaleb (Junior, Houston, Texas).
In the third inning, St. Edward's put up six more runs off of six hits. From there the Hilltoppers coasted to its fifth-straight victory.
Landon Patterson (Senior, Leander, Texas) picked up his second-straight victory, allowing two runs on 10 hits, while walking one and striking out four in 5.0 innings of work.
Shank was 9-for-12 at the plate with nine RBI and seven runs scored. He also had a double, triple and two home runs. Colin Elmore (Junior, Dallas, Texas) also had one heck of a weekend, going 7-for-15 at the plate and scoring an amazing 11 runs from his leadoff spot.
For the third game, Johnson finished 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored.
The Hilltoppers will be back in action Tuesday when they host cross-town rival Concordia on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Lucian-Hamilton Field.
