-Newman jumped out early scoring three runs in the first two innings of play.
-The Hilltoppers answered with two runs in the bottom of the second on a two-run double by
DYLAN WATTS. They would add another in the third inning to tie the score off of an RBI-single by
CJ MANNING.
-St. Edward's had every opportunity to take the lead as they would have a runner in scoring position in the fourth through sixth innings but could not capitalize.
-Newman would push across another run in the sixth inning to take the lead, 4-3.
-In the seventh inning, the Jets would break the game wide open. After Christian Dye struck out to lead off the inning, eight-straight batters would reach base as they scored six runs off of just four hits. St. Edward's committed three errors during the inning.
Beyond the Box Score

-This was the first game that the Hilltoppers have not stolen a base. They were 14-of-15 for the first six games of the season.
-The 12 strikeouts were a season high for the Hilltopper pitching staff this season, however the 13 hits allowed were also a season-high.
