How It Happened
-Incarnate Word got on the board early, jumping out to a 5-1 lead after two innings. They pounded out seven hits and the Hilltoppers committed two errors to help.
-St. Edward's would come roaring back to score five runs in the fourth inning.
AJ HERMANSON had a huge bases-clearing triple during the inning and
CJ MANNING drove in two with a single to put the Hilltoppers ahead, 6-5.
-After the Cardinals tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth inning, neither team would score through the next two innings.
-After
WES KOENIG put the Hilltoppers up one with his RBI-double, Incarnate Word answered yet again, pushing a run across to tie the game again.
-In the eighth inning,
RANSOM LALONDE singled home two runs to give St. Edward's a 9-7 lead.
-Incarnate Word rallied once again, scoring three runs in the eighth to take a 10-9 lead, and that is where it would end.
