How It Happened
-St. Edward's put two runs on the board in the first inning when
TAYLOR JOHNSON walked to lead off the inning and then stole second.
RANSOM LALONDE drove in Johnson with a double to the gap in right field. LaLonde made it 2-0 when he scored on a single by
NATE BOBROWSKI.
-UT-Permian Basin would answer in the third inning, scoring four runs to take a 4-2 lead. All four runs would be unearned. The big blow was a three-run home run by first baseman Jordyn Van Atta.
-The Hilltoppers didn't waste any time coming back, scoring two runs in the bottom of the third inning. LaLonde would pick up his second RBI of the game and so would Bobrowski to make it, 4-4.
-St. Edward's would pile it on after that, scoring three runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth inning. An insurance run in the eighth inning, after the Falcons scored a run in the seventh, provided the final margin.p
Beyond the Box Score
-Hilltopper starting pitcher
CODY ELLERBEE, who missed his start last week, was outstanding. He allowed just four hits over six innings of work, while striking out five batters. All four runs he gave up were unearned, which lowered his ERA to 2.39 and is now third on the staff.
