Game 1
How it happened
-The Hilltoppers struck first, taking a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning. MARISSA THOME scored the run after a stolen base and wild pitch put her on third. ALLY VALDEZ singled up the middle allowing Thome to score easily.
-St. Edward's added to its lead, making it 2-0 in the top of the second inning. KENDALL LUCAS provided the run.
-Marissa Bogart slammed a home run down the left field line that started a big fourth inning for the Hilltoppers. Briana Bozon and KACI OLSON also scored, extending the lead 5-0.
-LAUREN BRODE opened the seventh inning with a solo shot to left field. K.P. Perch and MEMRIE WATERS also got into the scoring act for St. Edward's. KENDALL LUCAS added her second run for the Hilltoppers as well as St. Edward's ran away with Game 1, 9-0.
-Hilltopper starting pitcher SARAH DEBROW threw her third shutout of the season, allowing just four hits and striking out nine.
 
Game 2
How it happened
-Newman took the early 2-0 lead during the second inning of Game 2.
-The Hilltopper offense was shut down for the first six innings, as they were only able to gain one hit off the Jets.
-St. Edward's found some hope in the top of seventh inning. EMILY MAYFIELD was able to score and cut the deficit, 2-1.
-TORI GONZALEZ lined out with one out remaining for the Hilltoppers. St. Edward's left two people stranded, and would lose Game 2, 2-1.
 
Beyond the Box Score
-Sara Debrow earned her 13th victory of the season in Game 1 of the doubleheader. This win ties her total from last season.
-Debrow and her support staff of pitchers has allowed to St. Edward's to boast the lowest opposing batting average in the conference. Currently, the Hilltoppers allow .250 batting average.
-ALLY VALDEZ reached base four times during the doubleheader to add to her Heartland Conference leading on-base percentage of .580.
