How It Happened
-Angelo State scored the first run of the game in the second inning when Lanie Robinson doubled home a run. This was the first time during the tournament the Hilltoppers have trailed.
-St. Edward's responded with two runs in the bottom of the second. ALLY VALDEZ led off the inning with a walk and EMILY MAYFIELD reached on a two-base error. Valdez moved to third on the play. Marissa Bogart was called on to pinch-hit and she delivered with a two-run single to give St. Edward's the lead.
-In a back-in-forth game, the RamBelles retook the lead on a two-run homer by Morgan Spearman in the top of the third inning.
-However, the Hilltoppers showed their resiliency they had the entire the tourney, by pushing two runs across. MARISSA THOME led off with her first triple of the year. She came into score a squeeze bunt by KENDALL LUCAS to tie the score, 3-3. FAITH ROBERTS would plate the other run on a sacrifice fly.
-After Angelo State tied the game in the fourth inning, St. Edward's would pull ahead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. KACI OLSON reached on a one-out single. Thome followed with her second triple of the game to plate Olson. KENDALL LUCAS singled to score Thome. After Lucas stole second Valdez would walk. Roberts then singled home Lucas to make it 7-4.
-The RamBelles loaded the bases with two outs but Hilltopper starting pitcher SARAH DEBROW snagged a line drive to thwart the rally.
-St. Edward's would put the game out of reach in the fifth with three more runs. Thome would drive in another run, Lucas pushed across a run on a squeeze bunt, and Roberts drove in a run with a hit by pitch.
-Debrow would come out in the sixth inning and strike out the side.
-In the bottom of the sixth inning, St. Edward's ended the game with two runs. Thome would get the first RBI with her fifth hit of the game. Olson would score the game-winner on a throwing error by the catcher.
 
Beyond the Box Score
-Debrow got the victory, allowing four runs on nine hits, while walking two and striking out 10 in her complete-game victory. She won all three games during the tournament for the Hilltoppers and improves to 23-10. Her 10 strikeouts give her 235 for the season. She is just one strikeout behind Diana Cezeaux who owns the record for single season strikeouts with 236 in 2008.
-Thome's five hits were the most by a Hilltopper this season in one game. Thome and Olson both hold eight-game hitting streaks.
-For the tournament, Thome was 8-for-11 with four runs scored and four RBI. As a team, St. Edward's hit .384 during the three games. They averaged 7.3 runs per contest.

St. Edward's will be back in action Friday when they head to Denton, Texas when they take on Texas Woman's in a best-of-3 series in the NCAA South Central Super Regionals.
