AUSTIN, Texas – The 46^th-ranked St. Edward's women's tennis team came back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Heartland Conference rival UT-Permian Basin, 5-4, Sunday morning at the Strohmeyer Varsity Tennis Courts. The victory puts the Hilltoppers at 3-0 in conference play.
 
St. Edward's (7-6, 3-0 HC) started doubles play with a quick victory at the number one spot as BROOKE HUGHES and SASHA KHADZHYAN teamed up to take down UT-Permian Basin's Lisa Roslanova and Olivia Baltazar, 8-1. The Falcons (8-6, 0-2 HC) would take the other two doubles matches, and a 2-1 team advantage heading into singles play.
 
In singles play, the Hilltoppers rallied, winning at number one through four singles. They would win in straight sets in all four matches to clinch the match. FRANCESCA CHAHER took down Sofia Ochoa, 6-1, 6-1, to improve to 8-3 in dual match singles play.
 
St. Edward's will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Waco, Texas. The Hilltoppers will take on Baylor at 10:00 am and Collin County CC at 3:00 p.m.
