DENVER, Colo. – The St. Edward's women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Metro State Saturday afternoon at The Regency Athletic Complex.
 
St. Edward's (2-5) got a win at the number two doubles positions from FRANCESCA CHAHER and SUMMER BIGGS over Wanda Holopainen and Cristina Oropeza, 9-7. The Hilltoppers lost a tight one at the number one spot as SASHA KHADZHYAN and RAFAELA HAEGELE fell to Naomi Holopainen and Taylor Larreau in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-4). The Roadrunners would also take the point at three doubles.
 
Down, 2-1, heading into singles play, St. Edward's tried to rally. Chaher and Biggs got their second wins of the day with victories at the number three and four spots. Both players won in straight sets. BREANNE HESSELTINE lost a tough one at the number five spot, falling to Whitney Vaswig, 7-5, 6-4, while Khadzhyan won her first set before dropping two straight at the number one position. Metro State would take the remaining two singles matches for the 6-3 win.
 
St. Edward's will be back in action Sunday when they travel to take on Colorado St.-Pueblo at 1 p.m. MST.
