Box Score vs. St. Cloud StateBox Score vs. Fort Lewis CollegeLAS VEGAS, Nev.- The St. Edward's Softball team remained unbeaten in day two of the Desert Stinger Classic. The Hilltoppers defeated St. Cloud, 14-5, and remained unbeaten on the day as they topped Fort Lewis College, 11-1.

St. Edward's (7-5) first opponent of the day was St. Cloud State (2-2). The first inning was action packed as both teams put numbers on the board. The Huskies completed inning one with four runs and four hits including a homer from Alyssa Coletto that registered two RBI.

ALEX MAYFIELD was the first runner to score for the Hilltoppers off a single from
FAITH ROBERTS.
MORGAN DUFOUR, who has been an offensive powerhouse in the tournament so far, singled up the middle to send
CAITIE CARNEY home. St. Cloud State was held scoreless in the second inning, while St. Edward's managed to cut the lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the second inning.

Megan Hedstrom of St. Cloud State homered in the third inning to hold the Hilltoppers off and take a 5-3 advantage. Carney kept St. Edward's close as she put up her second run of the day in the bottom of the third inning, bringing the score to 5-4.

The Hilltoppers made their move in the bottom of the fourth inning, registering four runs.
ALEX MAYFIELD earned her second run of the day, Carney captured her third, and
KP PERCH and Roberts both saw home plate action for the first time in the contest. St. Edward's overtook the Huskies 8-5 going into the final inning.

SARAH DEBROW and the rest of the Hiltoppers played excellent defense in the top of the fifth to keep the Huskies from mounting a comeback. The final frame sealed the deal with a total of six Hilltopper scores. Roberts kicked off the scoring with a home run to centerfield, sending Carney and
KACI OLSON home for three RBI. Dufour scored off a single from Perch and then
EMILY MAYFIELD capped off the game with a two-run homer to complete the run-rule victory.

Coming off an impressive offensive performance, the Hilltoppers aimed to take out their second opponent on the day—Fort Lewis College (2-6). They did just that and in a convincing manner.

The game was relatively calm at first, with one run on the board coming from Dufour in the bottom of the second inning. The Hilltoppers turned it on in the third however, racking in nine runs and nine hits. Carney opened it up with a homer and two RBI's. Next,
EMILY MAYFIELD singled to center field to send Roberts home. A pitching change could not stop St. Edward's as
CYDNEY ERVIN singled to right center and Dufour scored. Perch got in on the scoring action off a single from
LAURA ALVARADO. Then, with bases loaded,
ALEX MAYFIELD homered, sending Alvardo, Ervin and
EMILY MAYFIELD home. Finally the inning was closed out, but the damage had been done. The score stood at 10-0 after three innings of action.

Dufour scored again in the bottom of the fourth, putting the Hilltoppers up 11-0. Fort Lewis managed to get on the board in the top of the fifth, scoring one run, but the final tally was 11-1.
