DURANT, Okla. –
The St. Edward's softball team lost early leads Saturday, dropping both games at the Southeastern Regional Invitational. The Hilltoppers fell to Cameron (4-3) and Central Oklahoma (9-2).
After opening the tournament with two victories on day one, the Hilltoppers fell to 2-2 on the season with Saturday's results.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1-Cameron)
- St. Edward's wasted little time, scoring the game's first run in the first inning on an RBI-double by sophomore KAYLA APPLEBY.
- A SAMI WILLIAMS' home run and JINNY STRICKLIN RBI-ground out in the fourth inning made it 3-0.
- Cameron responded with two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to take the lead.
- St. Edward's was held hitless in the final three innings as Cameron took the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2-Central Oklahoma)
- St. Edward's held a 2-1 lead after one inning of play.
- Central Oklahoma responded with six runs over the next three innings to take control of the game.
HILLTOPPER NOTES
- Williams leads the Hilltoppers with two home runs and five RBI.
- St. Edward's is hitting .268 as a team and opponents are hitting .225.
- Senior LAUREN SLATTEN has registered 22 strikeouts in just 16.0 innings of work.
