MIDLAND, Texas
– BETH HAYWARD clinched an 8-1 win Friday for St. Edward's women's tennis over UT-Permian Basin as the Hilltoppers improved to 2-0 in regional action.

St. Edward's won all of its points in straight sets.
ANJALI SAMPATH was dominant with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles.
MARISSA WILLIAMS improved to 5-0 in singles this spring with her win on line four.

St. Edward's (6-3) margin of victory this season is 48-27. UT-Permian Basin (3-10) has lost six of its last seven matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hilltoppers jumped ahead 3-0, winning 8-5, 8-2, 8-5 in doubles.
- Sampath cruised to victory on line one in singles, 6-1, 6-0, and put St. Edward's within a point of victory.
- Hayward finished it off on line three, winning 6-0, 6-1.

HILLTOPPER NOTES
- St. Edward's is 6-0 all time against UT-Permian Basin.
- Williams has not lost a singles match since September 2016.
- Friday marked head coach Kendall Brooks' 40th victory on the hilltop.
