AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's women's tennis hosted No. 47 Southeastern Oklahoma State Thursday, and fell 5-2.
 
VALENTINA MARTINEZ claimed the Hilltoppers lone win in singles with a straight-set victory. In doubles, it was MARISSA WILLIAMS and ELISA GUILLEN claiming a point for the home team.
 
St. Edward's (5-3) has faced four nationally ranked teams this season. SE Oklahoma State (4-0) remains perfect on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Savage Storm jumped out to an early 2-0 lead by winning No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
• Williams and Guillen battled their way to an 8-5 win on line three in doubles to make it 2-1.
• Martinez tied the match, 2-2, with her 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
• SOSU ran off three straight singles victories to clinch the win.
• Both No. 4 and No. 5 singles went unfinished.

 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• The Hilltoppers are 1-3 this season against nationally ranked opponents.
• St. Edward's is 2-1 in the all-time series against SE Oklahoma State.
• Thursday marks the first meeting between the two teams since 2012.
