AUSTIN, Texas – CHASE BARTLETT went 2-0 Wednesday but the Hilltoppers came just short of upsetting No. 17 Drury as they fell, 5-4.
 
Bartlett teamed up with CHASE MOREHOUSE for a win at No. 2 doubles before claiming a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles. WILL DRUMWRIGHT won his singles match to improve to 9-3 this spring.
 
St. Edward's (10-6) is 4-5 against nationally ranked opponents this season. Drury (11-3) jumped from No. 30 to No. 17 in the most recent national rankings.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Drury took a quick 2-0 lead with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
• Bartlett and Morehouse made it 2-1 by winning a tiebreaker on line two.
• The Panthers extended their advantage to 3-1 with their win at No. 1 singles.
• St. Edward's tied it 3-3 as Bartlett (6-3, 6-2) and Drumwright (7-5, 7-5) won their matches on lines two and four.
• The Hilltoppers and Panthers exchanged points with Drury's win at No. 5 singles and LOGAN BUIGNET's win on line six (6-1, 6-2).
• Drury clinched the victory in the final match at No. 5 singles.

 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• The Hilltoppers have faced nine nationally ranked opponents across three divisions this spring.
• St. Edward's is 1-15 in the all-time series against Drury.
• As a team, SEU is a combined 58-36 in singles action this spring.
