WICHITA FALLS, Texas – St. Edward's women's tennis faced Midwestern State Friday, and fell to the No. 2 team in the South Central Region, 8-1.
 
LAURA GALVAN recorded the Hilltoppers' lone point of the match. She now has five singles wins in dual action this spring.
 
St. Edward's (8-9) is 4-2 in regional play. Midwestern State (11-3) has won five straight matches.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• A sweep in doubles gave Midwestern State an early 3-0 lead.
• Back-to-back wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles clinched the match.
• Galvan battled to a come-from-behind, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 win at No. 2 singles to put SEU on the board.

 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• St. Edward's is 7-14 in the all-time series with Midwestern State.
• The Hillltoppers have faced 10 nationally ranked opponents this season.
• VALENTINA MARTINEZ and MARISSA WILLIAMS lead SEU in singles victories with 10 each.

"Midwestern State was too good today. We had some chances early in doubles, and weren't able to capitalize. This seems to be a recurring theme for us. Because of that, we started pretty flat in singles, and weren't able to recover. It's hard to beat a good team when you're not playing your best, and that's what happened to us today. We will quickly let this go, and refocus on tomorrow's match."
