LATE INNING RUNS LEAD TO FIRST HILLTOPPER LOSS

DENVER, Colo. - Regis used a steady stream of runs to hand St. Edward's their first loss of the season, falling 11-4 Saturday afternoon.

Regis took the lead with a single run in the second inning, but St. Edward's quickly responded, scoring two runs in the third. RYAN MCPHAIL doubled down the left field line and then stole third with one out in the inning. MORGAN ALLEN singled to drive home McPhail for the first run and Allen was brought home by DYLAN MACKIN's single through the left side.

Regis regained the lead with a three-run third inning, but the Hilltoppers tied it up with runs in the fourth and sixth innings. After a scoreless top of seven for SEU and the game tied 4-4 Regis got hot, posting two in the seventh and five in the eighth to take a commanding lead that would become the final.

MATTHEW JIMENEZ led at the plate, going 2-4 with one RBI and was the only Hilltopper to post multiple hits on the afternoon. NATHAN MEDRANO had a strong showing on the mound, throwing three innings, allowing one run on one hit with one walk and six strikeouts.

The Hilltoppers fall to 3-1 on the year and close the series against Regis with a double-header on Sunday beginning at noon.
