WICHITA, Kan. – The St. Edward's baseball team split a doubleheader at Newman on Friday. The Jets claimed game one by a 13-9 score, but the Hilltoppers bounced back to take the nightcap, 14-7.
The two teams will wrap up the Heartland Conference series at 12 p.m. Saturday.

GAME ONE RECAP
BLAKE HOLUB hit a pair of two-run homers, while
RYAN MCPHAIL also hammered a solo shot, but St. Edward's fell short in the series opener.
Newman used a four-run sixth inning to take control of the contest.
DYLAN MACKIN drove in two runs, while
ZACH SHEPHERD and
AARON SIGAL both had an RBI.

GAME TWO RECAP
The Hilltoppers exploded with a seven-run sixth inning and then scored five times in the seventh to pull away from Newman.
The Jets had a 5-2 lead before St. Edward's back-to-back big innings.
The 'Toppers had 10 hits in the middle game of the series. Holub and Shepherd both had two hits apiece, while Holub hit his third homer of the day. McPhail also went deep again.
BRANDON PETTINATI received the win in relief.
