Box Score SAN ANGELO, Texas – St. Edward's baseball hung with Angelo State through six innings before the Rams took over to win 5-2 Thursday.
ASU struck first, scoring one run with two outs to take an early 1-0 lead. SEU matched the effort in the third with a solo homerun from
MORGAN ALLEN.
A scoreless fourth gave way to both teams driving in a run in the fifth.
DAVIS DREWEK started things off with a two-out double and Allen singled to left field, bringing Drewek home. The Rams followed suit, scoring one in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game at two a piece.
ASU got hot in the seventh, scoring three runs on two hits, taking advantage of two Hilltopper errors. When all was said and done, the Rams held a three-run lead, 5-2.
St. Edward's was unable to get things going in the final innings, getting retired in order in the final two innings.
Allen was strong at the plate, going 3-4 with two RBIs.
BLAKE HOLUB suffered the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, with five hits with six walks and seven strikeouts.
St. Edward's drops to 7-12 on the year and 7-11 in Lone Star Conference play. They continue the series on Saturday at 6:30 pm.
