The Hilltoppers started well, posting two runs in the first and one in the second and third innings while holding a tough Buffs offense to two runs.
 
West Texas added two runs in the fifth to tie the contest, but SEU steadily warmed-up late, scoring four in the seventh, one in the eighth and then a monumental 15 runs in the ninth to lead 24-4 heading into the bottom half of the final frame.
 
AUSTIN ESSEX came in to close the contest, allowing just one run on one hit with two strikeouts in the final inning.
 
JAKE HAHN lead the charge at the plate, going 3-6 with 4 RBIs with DYLAN MACKIN adding a 2-4 outing with two doubles and five RBI. CULLEN AINSWORTH posted a double and homerun with four RBIs.
 
All-in-all SEU recorded 23 hits, five doubles, and three homeruns in the win. BLAKE HOLUB was sensational in his return to the mound, allowing four runs on six hits with three walks and 12 strikeouts in the win.
 
The Hilltoppers improve to 17-21 on the year and remain alive in the postseason. They next head to San Angelo, Texas on Thursday, May 20, to take on the #5 seed St. Mary's in Game 1 of the double elimination tournament.
