Baseball Ranked 16 in Collegiate Baseball News Preseason Poll

Collegiate Baseball News released its 2023 NCAA Division II Preseason Poll, ranking the St. Edward's Hilltoppers No. 16  in the nation. 

St. Edward's posted a 32-25 season a year ago, including 27-21 in conference play. The Hilltoppers received an NCAA South Central Regional bid and went 2-2 in the NCAA Tournament, falling one win shy of the NCAA Super Regional. 

The Hilltoppers return All-American pitcher WESLEY GAFFORD, who posted an 11-3 record with 111 strikeouts in 15 games last season. The pitcher from Georgetown, Texas, was named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Year and ABCA South Central Region Pitcher of the Year. St. Edward's also returns All-LSC Third Team catcher CULLEN AINSWORTH. 

The Hilltoppers open the season on the road against Texas A&M University-Kingsville on Friday, Feb. 3, at 6:00 p.m. The home opener is Friday, Feb. 17, against West Texas A&M at 1:00 p.m.
