Baseball Loses To #10 Lubbock Christian

Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas – St. Edward's baseball closed its series against No. 10-ranked Lubbock Christian with a 14-1 loss, losing the series 3-1. 
 
Lubbock Christian set the tone with three home runs off starter BRENNAN BERDON in the bottom of the first. Carson Ogilvie hit a leadoff home run to right-center, Brevin McCool added a three-run blast to the same spot, and Chris Shull capped off the inning with a two-run home run to give the Chaps a 6-0 lead. 
 
TY MURRAY hit a one-out single to right field in the second and advanced to third on an error, setting up RYAN FEDDERSEN's RBI on a groundout. 
 
GEORGE HETTRICK came out of the bullpen to start the second for St. Edward's, and Lubbock Christian loaded the bases with back-to-back singles and a one-out walk. Hettrick struck out Ryan Ball, but Shull struck again with a three-RBI double down the left-field line. 
 
Both teams retired three of four with two strikeouts in the third, and Lubbock Christian added three more runs in the fourth. St. Edward's defense opened the inning with two outs, but Ball, Shull, and Hayden Blair loaded the bases on a double, single, and walk. Then Edwards drove in two with a single up the middle, and Ogilvie added another with a double to the right.
 
In the sixth, Ogilvie drove in two more runs with a double down the left-field line, giving the team a 14-1 lead. 
 
Murray hit 3-for-3 with a run scored. Sebek added one hit. St. Edward's record falls to 19-23 with a 19-21 conference record. The Hilltoppers will host Angelo State next weekend, with the first game on Friday and senior day on Sunday.
