St. Edward's baseball travels to Lubbock this weekend to play in the first round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament against top-seeded Lubbock Christian.
Lubbock Christian won the regular-season series 3-1 and will enter the postseason ranked sixth in the ABCA National Poll and ninth in the NCBWA National Poll with a 36-14 record. The Chaparrals led the LSC in home runs, runs scored, slugging percentage, and triples. Carson Ogilvie led the way with a .423 batting average and a conference-high 85 hits and 23 doubles. He also hit 12 home runs and led the LSC with 75 runs.
St. Edward's battled back from injuries to claim the eighth seed in the tournament with a 23-27 record. The Hilltoppers have outscored opponents 358-335 this season and are in the top five in the LSC in complete games pitched, ERA, home runs, sac bunts, and shutouts.
DAVIS DREWEK leads St. Edward's with a .331 batting average, driving in 49 RBI with 10 doubles, four triples, and 13 home runs, scoring 50 runs.
JAKUB RAYFIELD has a 7-2 record on the mound with a 4.75 ERA.
The first round is a best-of-three playoff series, with the first game on Friday at 6:00 p.m., a second game on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., and a 1:00 p.m. Sunday game if necessary. All games will be live-streamed on the Lone Star Conference digital network, and live stats will be on statbroadcast.
