The American Baseball Coaches Association released its first NCAA Divison II in-season poll, ranking St. Edward's Baseball No. 23 nationally.
St. Edward's is off to a 9-3 start, including a series sweep of Cameron last weekend. The Hilltoppers won their season-opening series against West Texas A&M 3-1, defeating the then-ranked No. 21 Buffaloes. St. Edward's split its series against Eastern New Mexico.
The Hilltoppers are anchored by a strong pitching staff, leading the Lone Star Conference in the fewest hits allowed per nine innings and WHIP.
KOBE JARAMILLO (3-0) is fourth in the nation with 26 strikeouts. Three of the four hitters at the top of St. Edward's lineup are hitting .350 or better, not including
DYLAN TATE, who leads the team with a .421 batting average.
CONNOR COX is also hitting better than .400 at .405.
St. Edward's faces Huston-Tillotson today at 1:00 p.m., then travels to play Texas Permian Basin this weekend for a four-game series.
