AUSTIN, Texas — The Lone Star Conference released its weekly awards, naming St. Edward's starter CONNOR FREEMAN its LSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Freeman led the charge on St. Edward's first shutout victory of the season, throwing 6.2 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against Eastern New Mexico. The left-handed junior scattered three hits — all singles — and walked three, producing a strikeout in all but one inning in St. Edward's 7-0 win.
The Hilltoppers are now 5-1, winning regular-season series against West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico. The five-game winning streak is reflected in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association regional rankings, which move the team up to third in the South Central Region.
St. Edward's hits the road next weekend for a four-game series against Cameron (3-3).
