AUSTIN, Texas — St. Edward's senior first baseman CONNOR COX was named the Lone Star Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Cox powered the Hilltoppers to a four-game series sweep of Sul Ross State, hitting .667 (8-for-12) with three doubles, a triple and eight RBI over the weekend. He also scored seven runs, walked five times, was hit by a pitch and struck out just once, finishing the series with a .737 on-base percentage.
The senior doubled in three different games and tied the St. Edward's career doubles record with his 58th, continuing a dominant stretch at the plate as the Hilltoppers extended their winning streak to six games.
Cox has hit .571 during the six-game run, helping fuel one of the Lone Star Conference's most productive offenses.
He currently leads the LSC in batting average (.467), slugging percentage (.813), on-base percentage (.598), OPS (1.411) and runs scored (29).
