St. Edward's University Athletics

Junior (2012): Saw action in 15 games while starting 12 for the Hilltoppers…had a record of 7-4 with a 4.54 ERA…pitched a total of 71.1 innings during the season…struck out 55 batters on the season…best game in a victory over UT-Permian Basin (2/24/12) where he allowed just one run on three hits in 8.0 innings of work.
 
Sophomore (Taft JC) (2011): Played at Taft Junior College where he compiled a 6-4 record with a 4.00 earned-run average.
 
Freshman (Cueston College) (2010): Played at Cueston College in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
 
Prep: Played baseball for three seasons at Taft Union High School…named to the first-team all-conference during his junior and senior seasons…was also named the team’s most valuable player in his junior and senior seasons…during his senior season he was named to the all-area second-team while registering an 11-1 record on the mound…that same year he led central California in strikeouts…his team won the league championship his junior and senior seasons…was a member of the Oil Technology Academy.
 
Personal: Matthew Robert Davis was born on August 14, 1991…son of Rob and Nancy Davis of Taft, Calif.…has one sibling: MiKaola (17)…currently studying business management with career hopes of becoming a college pitching coach…enjoys playing video games, working out, reading and biking…other interests include disc golf, listening to music, and yoga…his biggest athletic thrill was advancing to the 2012 NCAA Regional tournament.
