Redshirt Junior (2012): Saw action in 14 games while starting four for the Hilltoppers…had an ERA of 3.68 and an overall record of 2-1…pitched a total of 44.0 innings and recorded 18 strikeouts…his best game came against Central Missouri (05/19/12) during the NCAA Regional Tournament when he pitched all 12 innings before losing by one run in extra innings.
 
Junior (2011): Saw action in four games before gaining a medical redshirt…pitched 2.2 innings while giving up seven hits.
 
Sophomore (2010): Appeared and started three games for the Hilltoppers during his first season…finished the year with a 4.40 ERA and an overall record of 1-2…pitched 14.1 innings and gave up 18 hits…recorded nine strikeouts on the year…best outing came against Lincoln (Mo.) (02/06/10) when he pitched five innings and recorded five strikeouts to help the Hilltoppers secure the win.
 
Redshirt Freshman (2009): Appeared in seven games on the mound while starting two.
 
Freshman (2008): Redshirted the season.
 
Prep: Played four years of baseball at McNeil High School in Austin.
 
Personal: Paul Alan Smith was born on May 7, 1989…son of Stan and Jill of Austin, Texas…has two siblings: Niel (27), and Jill (20)…currently studying finance with a career objective of becoming the longest tenured jeopardy contestant…his hobbies include reading, watching Nebraska athletics, and drinking Dr. Pepper…his biggest athletic thrill is watching the Nebraska football team score.
