Junior (2012): The experienced veteran made an impact during her third season of play…she played in 50 games while starting in 46…she led the team with a .406 batting average 54 hits, 24 RBI, nine doubles, and four triples…was second on the team with a .594 slugging percentage…added one homerun on the season…was on a hot streak from (03/03-04) when she had six hits and six RBI…one of her best performances came against Texas Woman’s (03/27) when she recorded three hits for three RBI.
 
Sophomore (2011): In her second season with St. Edward’s she saw action in 36 games while starting six…throughout the season she accumulated a .267 batting average and slugging percentage…scored 10 runs on four hits and had an RBI…her best performance of the season came against Texas A&M-Kingsville (02/20) when she had a hit, run scored, and an RBI.
 
Freshman (2010): During her first season on the Hilltop she saw action in 37 games while starting 28 during her freshman season…she finished with a .450 slugging percentage…had 18 hits with three doubles and two homeruns…tallied nine RBI…her best game of the season came against Lincoln (03/06) when she had three RBI with a homerun.
 
Prep: Played four years of softball at Lamar Consolidated High School…in her first season she earned honorable mention all-district…during the 2007 season she was named to the all-district first-team…she also had a batting average of over .300…in 2008 she was once again on the all-district first-team and the co-offensive player of the year…during the 2009 season she continued her success on the field by hitting better than .500 and recording more than 40 hits…she was the MVP of the district and earned a spot on the all-area team…during this season her efforts in the classroom helped her earn a spot on the academic all-state team…also lettered in cross country and volleyball.
 
Personal: Marissa Renee Thome was born on July 18, 1990…daughter of John and Lisa Thome of Rosenberg, Texas…has six siblings: Kristin (29), Brittany (28), Aaron (27), Lauren (24), Trenton (20), and Carly (16)…currently majoring in math and earning a minor in education…hopes to become a math teacher and a head softball coach…her hobbies include playing sports, hanging out with friends and participating with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes…her biggest athletic thrill was beating St. Mary’s twice during the Heartland Conference Tourney to advance to regionals.
