Box Score ODESSA, Texas – Redshirt freshman forward JESSICA TRAVES tallied her first career hat trick to lead #8 St. Edward's to a 7-0 shutout on the road against UT-Permian Basin Thursday evening. The victory keeps the Hilltoppers tied for first place in the Heartland Conference with Dallas Baptist and is their fifth-straight triumph.

UT-Permian Basin (1-13, 0-8 HC) held the Hilltoppers in check for the first 33 minutes of action. St. Edward's (14-1, 7-1 HC) sent seven shots on goal before connecting. RACHEL MURRAY had three of the shots, including her shot in the third minute that hit the post.

Finally, in the 33rd minute, Traves tallied her second goal of the season. She and MIKAYLA ENGEL had a 2-on-1 break and Engel fed Traves across the box for a wide-open goal. AMANDA TABONE would register her first goal as a Hilltopper with time running out in the first half.

In the second half, St. Edward's started to pour it on. The Hilltoppers would get a penalty kick goal by MEGAN ANDERSON with just four minutes gone by. It was her sixth goal of the season. LAUREN HELLER made it 4-0 in the 59th minute as she scored her 12th goal of the season on a pass from OLIVIA COLLADO. That goal ties her with Murray for the team lead.

Engel would score her 10th goal of the season, when she converted the second penalty kick for St. Edward's.

Traves would cap off the scoring when she scored a goal in the 64th and 67th minute to make it 7-0. TAYLOR WISEMAN assisted on the first of those goals by Traves and the second one was unassisted.

“The team is showing its defensive resilience and offensive firepower,” head coach Nick Cowell said. “We have multiple players scoring, so defenses can't key in on just one player. We also have four energetic, organized lines of defense: forwards, midfielders, defenders and goalkeeper.”

St. Edward's outshot the Falcons, 24-5, while also sending 12 shots on goal compared to one for the Falcons.

St. Edward's will be back in action Saturday when they travel to take on McMurry in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Abilene, Texas. Live stats and video will be available on the War Hawk Athletic Website.
