How it Happened
-Midwestern State gained a 4-0 lead after four innings. Three of the Midwestern State's runs came on home runs. First baseman Christina Roosmalen hit a two-run home run in the third inning. In the fourth inning, catcher Kim Jerrick hit a solo home run to right centerfield.
-The Hilltoppers scored all four of their runs in the fifth inning. The first run was scored off a ground out by
MARISSA THOME that brought home Marissa Bogart. Next,
CYDNEY ERVIN was brought home off a single by
ALLY VALDEZ. Then,
KYLI HERMAN came in as a pinch hitter and singled to center field, bringing in Valdez and
FAITH ROBERTS.
-In the eight inning, Midwestern State scored the clinching run. A sacrifice fly by Carey Campbell brought home Katelyn Vinson. The Hilltoppers were unable to score in the bottom of the inning to fall in extras to the Mustangs.
Beyond the Box Score
-The Hilltoppers had trouble bringing in runners with a total of nine left on base including two in the eighth inning. Bogart's fly out to right field left
BRIANNA BOZON and
KENDALL LUCAS stranded on base.

How It Happened
-Texas A&M-Kingsville jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning in which they had four hits and left two on base. A double by Adela Gomez scored one run and a single down the left field line by Lex Cordova brought in another.
-The Hilltoppers did not score until the fourth inning. A double down the left field line by
KENDALL LUCAS brought home Herman.
-In the fifth inning, St. Edward's added its second run. A double by
KACI OLSON sent
LAURA ALVARADO to third. An errant throw by Texas A&M-Kingsville's second baseman allowed Alvarado to score.
-In extra innings, the Hilltoppers failed to score in the eighth and the Javelinas would score on a walk-off double in the bottom of the eighth.
Beyond the Box Score
-The Hilltoppers left eight runners on base. The most crucial of these was when Thome was tagged out at home in the eighth inning.
-Pitcher
SARAH DEBROW threw nine strikeouts in a losing effort. Debrow is now 3-3 on the year.
