(GAME 1)
How It Happened
-After Newman struck first with a run in the top of the first, St. Edward's responded with three runs. It was TAYLOR JOHNSON who caused all kinds of havoc on the bases as he reached on a hit by pitch, stole second and third, and then scored on a balk by Jet pitcher Jacob Furr for the first run of the game.
-The Hilltoppers would tally single runs in the second and fourth innings to push its lead to 5-1.
-After the Jets cut the home team's lead to 5-3, St. Edward's got its first home run as a team from MARSHALL BURFORD in the fifth and bunt-single RBI by CUTTER RUNTE in the sixth.
-BRAD NASIS picked up his second win of the season, allowing three runs on eight hits, while walking two and striking out five in 5.0 innings.
-Kyle Siethel picked up his first career save, throwing two perfect innings.
 
Beyond the Box Score
-The two stolen bases for Johnson give him nine after game one today. He has yet to be caught in nine attempts on the basepaths.
-The victory for Nasis was his eight-straight victory on the mound dating back to midseason last year.
 
(GAME 2)
How It Happened
-Locked in a pitcher's duel with Hilltopper starter BRANNON EASTERLING and Newman's Zak Mickens held both teams scoreless through the first three innings.
-In the bottom of the fourth, NATE BOBROWSKI led off the inning with triple down the right field line. Runte singled him home for the first run of the game.
-Newman would take the lead in the fifth inning a s they plated two unearned runs off of a Hilltopper error.
-Johnson would launch a shot to dead center field and the Jet centerfielder dove to tray and make a play. Johnson raced around the bases for an inside-the-park home run to not the score, 2-2.
-DYLAN WATTS led off the eighth inning with a single. After he moved to second on a sacrifice, Watts would score the eventual winning run on a clutch single by Johnson.
-AJ RATAIC sent the Jets down in order in the ninth for his second save of the season.
