How It Happened
-For the first three and half innings, neither team could muster a hit.
-Finally in the bottom of the fourth, St. Edward's broke through. With one out, MARSHALL BURFORD launched his seventh home run over the fence in left field for a 1-0 Hilltopper lead.
-In the sixth inning, St. Edward's broke the game wide open with four runs. Burford was at again, hitting his eighth home run with a runner on. After DYLAN WATTS walked, JOE PIROZZOLO tripled to the gap in right field to score Watts. RYAN DOLEZAL singled home Pirozzolo to make it 6-0.
-Dolezal would single home another run in the eighth inning and Pirozzolo scored on a wild pitch.
-Hilltopper starting pitcher COLLIN SHERROD was outstanding. The freshman lefthander had a perfect game through the first six innings with six strikeouts. In the seventh inning, Sherrod gave up a leadoff walk and a one-out single, but got out of the inning with a double play.
 
Beyond the Box Score
-St. Edward's outhit the Aggies, 8-4. The Hilltoppers are 28-1 when they outhit their opponent.
-Watts had one hit to extend his hitting streak to seven games.

Up Next
St. Edward's will close the regular season this coming weekend when they host Texas A&M-International for a three-game series. Friday's doubleheader will start at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday's single game will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday will be Senior Day on the Hilltop. The Dustdevils are trying to stay in the conference tournament hunt. They are currently in the fourth and final playoff spot. Newman is just a game and half behind.
