AUSTIN, Texas – TROY ANDERSON and BEN MORALEZ made their Hilltopper pitching debuts Tuesday as St. Edward's baseball used five pitchers in its 9-3 win over Houston-Victoria.
 
Anderson and Moralez each provided an inning of flawless relief with Moralez striking out two. The starter, RYAN HILL, collected his second victory of the year with three innings of four-hit, one-run work.
 
At the plate, DEREK THOMPSON and BLAKE ALEXANDER led the Hilltoppers' offense. Thompson went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Alexander was 2-for-2 with three runs on a double and his third home run of the season.
 
St. Edward's (18-9) has won six of its last seven games. UH-Victoria (6-13) used eight arms in its fifth straight loss.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Hilltoppers scored two runs in the second inning off RBI from HUNTER COURSON and Thompson to take a 2-0 lead.
• Houston-Victoria grabbed a run back in the third frame to make it 2-1.
• Alexander's home run in the fourth inning sparked a four-run outburst, giving St. Edward's a 6-1 advantage.
• A pair of runs in the fifth inning and an insurance run in the eighth capped off the scoring for SEU.

 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• The Hilltoppers have scored at least nine runs in 12 games this season.
• St. Edward's has won seven straight games against Houston-Victoria and is 12-2 in the all-time series.
• Alexander is batting .400 on the season and has hit three home runs in his last four games.
• ROMEO CORTINA is on a nine-game hitting streak, and CARSON COX has reached base in 10 straight games.
