Solid Pitching Subdues Jaguars

St. Edward’s defeats Houston-Victoria, 5-0

VICTORIA, Texas – The St. Edward's Baseball pitching staff combined to throw a two-hit shutout Tuesday in a 5-0 win against Houston-Victoria.

AUSTIN WEAVER (3-0) earned the win with four innings of one-hit, no-walk work. HAYDEN BACH, BRANDON BOONE, and BEN MORALEZ provided nearly flawless relief, giving up no runs on just one hit and one walk over five innings.

TJ GISELBACH led the Hilltoppers at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Both Giselbach and DEREK THOMPSON accounted for the Hilltoppers three doubles on the game.

St. Edward's (23-17) snaps its three-game losing streak with the win. Houston-Victoria (14-22) has won three of its last five games.

QUOTE BOARD: HEAD COACH ROB PENDERS
"Our pitching was outstanding today. Austin (Weaver) got us off to a great start, and everyone else followed suit. Our offense was a little slow to get going, but we stuck with a plan and eventually broke through. TJ (Giselbach) had a great day and got the big hit when we needed it."

UP NEXT
St. Edward's heads to Laredo, Texas to face Texas A&M-International. The three-game set opens Friday with a doubleheader at 3 p.m. at Unitrade Stadium. Live stats will be available at GoHilltoppers.com.
